Kigogole field is a rhomboid tilted fault block structure in the Albertine Graben. Kigogole field has five successful exploration and appraisal wells namely; Kigogle 1,2,3,4 and 5. The seismic data indicates presence of normal faults and the fualt bound structures make it necessary to drill appraisal wells to evaluate the reservoir continuity. It is proposed that 3 more well sites be appraised; Kigogole 6,7 and 8.

The appraisal drilling activities are site specific and will include; accessroads construction/upgrade, site clearance, drill pads construction and transporttion of raw materials. The project area lies within savannah woodland, grassland and cultivated farmland close to Murchison falls National Park. The areas have clustered settlements with numerous housing units about 200m - 300m from the well site. One of the well sites is on cultivated farmland.

The proposed activities will have significant adverse impacts if not mitigated including; reduced acreage of agricultural land and crops, soil and ground water quality, air and surface water quality, introduction of evassive species among others.
