Program and Development Associate

PROGRAM AND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

Overview

Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Program and Development Associate will: coordinate fundraising activities; assist the ED in Board relations; work with the regional offices on proposal generation and grant reporting; manage the operations for the DC office, and work closely with the DC-based External Relations Manager on marketing and communication activities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor public calls for proposals and conduct funder research
  • Maintain funder pipeline and conduct weekly funding meetings with development team
  • With the ED, ensure that regular stewardship of current donors is done by staff, the ED and the Board
  • Edit, write, and assemble grant proposals, including tracking proposal development
  • Plan fundraising events Coordinate Board of Directors activities (Plan all board meetings and any social events, distribute board materials, track board member commitments)
  • Work with the External Relations Director on updating the website, social media and CSF marketing collateral
  • Assist the ED in fundraising, strategy execution, institutional management, board relations, and communications
  • Assist the ED in stakeholder relations, including partners, funders and other parties interested in CSF activities
  • Prepare weekly briefing for the ED on CSF activities
  • Develop a sound understanding of the organization budget
  • Represent CSF in high-level meetings, with foundations, at conferences and other opportunities to raise the organization’s profile as a key contributor to conservation and to explore new partnerships
  • Oversee other administrative/office management tasks as needed, including scheduling and travel arrangements for ED
  • Manage office space operations, including mail and office maintenance
  • Manage the organization's database of contacts.

Desired Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3-5 years of work experience with NGOs, the public sector and/or related field
  • Project management experience
  • Enjoys interacting with a diversity of people, including donors and foundation program officers
  • Demonstrated dependability and ability to work with a minimum of supervision
  • Excellent written communication skills, specifically related to grant writing
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Interest in environmental and natural resource economics
  • Passion for conservation goals in alignment with CSF’s mission and strategy
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment Some travel, including the occasional weekends will be required
  • Spanish and Portuguese skills a plus

All candidates will be subject to a brief writing exercise to demonstrate excellent writing competency.

Salary commensurate with experience.

The position will be based in Washington, D.C. We would like the candidate to start by June 15, 2016.
