Conservation Strategy Fund gives conservation professionals economic skills that are key for success in protecting the environment. We strive to equip every participant in our courses with a solid understanding of economic fundamentals, fluency in the language of economics, and an ability to identify the best opportunities to apply economics to conservation practice. Since 1999, we have trained over 2000 people from 90 countries.

Economic Tools for Conservation - 2015 International Course

COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT

Conservation Strategy Fund is offering its 17th annual international training course, Economic Tools for Conservation, August 10-21, 2015 located at Stanford University. This course is being offered in partnership with the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and the Stanford Center for Conservation Biology.

Over the last decade, this course has become recognized as the premier applied economics training event for conservation professionals from around the world.

Herramientas Económicas para la Conservación de la Naturaleza - México y el Arrecife Mesoamericano 2015

El entrenamiento concluyó de manera exitosa, contando con la participación de 23 profesionales que trabajan en diferentes zonas y sectores de México y el Arrecife Mesoamericano. Dicha diversidad de perfiles enriquecieron de manera especial las discusiones y pláticas alrededor de los temas expuestos.

Online Coastal Conservation Economics Course

In May, 28 people completed our first online course in Coastal Conservation Economics. This course was offered in partnership with Duke University and sponsored by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation as part of our Conservation Economics Initiative.

Herramientas Económicas para la Conservación en la Amazonía Andina: Valoración Económica de Impactos Ambientales. Colombia 2014

El curso contó con 23 participantes que se encuentran trabajando en el área ambiental de la Amazonía Andina de Colombia, Ecuador y Perú, quienes aprendieron y reforzaron conocimientos sobre Valoración Ambiental, tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer e interactuar con los instructores y establecieron lazos profesionales y de amistad gracias al espacio creado a través de los cursos que ofrece ICAA para el fortalecimiento de capacidades y el relacionamiento entre profesionales de la conservación en la región.

La calidad de los profesores es uno de los factores que favorece el interés, compromiso y clima logrado para el aprendizaje, intercambio de experiencia y trabajos grupales.

Curso Ferramentas Econômicas para a Conservação

Vinte e três participantes, de 18 organizações, entre elas, IBAMA, ICMBIO, GIZ, participaram do Curso Ferramentas Econômicas para a Conservação, realizado, pela CSF Brasil, de 28 de julho a 08 de agosto de 2014, em Santana do Riacho, na Serra do Cipó, Minas Gerais, Brasil. O Curso contou com o apoio do Ministério do Meio Ambiente, da Agência Alemã de Cooperação para o Desenvolvimento – GIZ e da Confederação Nacional da Indústria por meio do Projeto TEEB Regional-Local.

Foram abordados temas como: Microeconomia, Instrumentos Econômico, Valoração Ambiental, Economia de Recursos Naturais e Análise Custo-Benefício.

Herramientas Económicas para la Conservación de la Naturaleza - México 2014

32 profesionales del sector público, privado y académico de Conservación y Ciencias de México y del Sistema Arrecifal Mesoamericano, participaron del curso Herramientas Económicas para la Conservación de la Naturaleza realizado por primera vez en México. El curso de 2 semanas, se llevó a cabo en el Posgrado de Ciencias Biológicas de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Gracias a nuestros socios mexicanos (UNAM, COBI, EDF, FMCN, GIZ y TNC) quienes hicieron posible esta realización con mucho éxito.

Analysis of Infrastructure from a Conservation Economics Perspective - Bhutan 2014

Twenty-two participants representing 3 countries and 15 organizations attended CSF's Analysis of Infrastructure from a Conservation Economics Perspective course in Bumthang, Bhutan. During the five-day course, participants gained an understanding of our core curriculum which includes Microeconomics, Natural Resource Economics, Environmental Valuation, and Cost-Benefit Analysis. Additional topics tailored for the region and sector of focus included Environmental Management and Policy, Infrastructure Best-Practice, and relevant case studies. Instructors were drawn from CSF, University of Brasilia, and Cambridge Resources International. Many thanks to our partners at UWICE for working with us to put on an excellent training!
