Conservation Strategy Fund is providing economic analysis to a joint initiative of the Coastal Alliance for Aquaculture Reform (CAAR) and the fish-farming firm, Marine Harvest Canada (MHC). This cooperative venture seeks to understand the financial and environmental costs and benefits of different approaches to raising salmon in the coastal province of British Columbia. CSF’s team includes consulting economists Glenn Jenkins, George Kuo and Leonard Leung, of Queens University in Ontario.

Presently, protected areas in Bolivia are threatened by an increasing pressure on natural resources both inside and in their buffer zones. The production and use of cacao generates economic resources for local people and contributes to environmental management and conservation of natural resources. The wild cocoa is produced within the Madidi National Park and Biosphere Reserve and is surroundings, as well as the communal lands of Pilon Lajas. This cocoa is currently marketed in the form of grain.

CSF is working with the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), which is the Brazilian National Park Service, on financial aspects of businesses operating in national parks. Starting with five protected areas, in the Atlantic Coastal Forest, the Amazon and the Cerrado, CSF will train and assist ICMBio staff on financial planning to provide services that will improve visitors' access and experience in the parks and strengthen the tie between Brazilians and their parks.

As terras pertencentes aos povos indígenas estão entre os locais mais bem conservados. Na Bacia Amazônica, essas vastas extensões de terra possuem taxas de desmatamento menores do que Parques Nacionais. Além disso, esses locais possuem uma cultura singular, paisagens deslumbrantes e alta concentração de biodiversidade. Apesar disso, são assoladas pela pobreza e geridas pelos próprios indígenas, que atualmente buscam oportunidades econômicas como uma alternativa.
