Thomas Hancock
Thomas completed his Bachelor of Commerce degree and his Post Graduate Diploma in Accounting at the University of Natal, in Durban, South Africa. Thereafter he served his Articles at Deloitte & Touche. Over the years, Thomas’ business interests have morphed into the “business of conservation”. Rockwood Leisure is the umbrella company for his various business and conservation activities. He is a founder-shareholder and Chairman of BioCarbon Partners (BCP), a forest conservation company addressing deforestation in wildlife-rich areas of southern Africa. Over the past 10 years BCP has emerged as one of the leading REDD+ developers in the world. He is also the CEO of Munyamadzi Game Ranch, a game ranch within the Luangwa Community Forest Project in Zambia, and Chairman of the Greater Kruger Environmental Protection Foundation in South Africa, an NGO providing collaborative services to wildlife managers to assist in the fight against wildlife crime and illegal wildlife trade, with a specific focus on rhino. Thomas previously served as Chairman of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, an area within the Greater Kruger National Park system. Thomas lives with his wife and twin daughters in Durban, South Africa and in the Netherlands. In his spare time, he is an avid helicopter pilot, a mountain biker, and a reluctant runner.
