Sophia Espinoza
Sophia joined CSF in 2022 as Project Coordinator and Analyst and was promoted to Bolivia Deputy Director in 2024. She has worked leading economic valuation studies of ecosystem services, cost-benefit analysis of agriculture and non-timber products collection, financial mechanisms for conservation, and impact evaluation of environmental policies. She was a Humphrey Fellow at the University of California, Davis from 2018 to 2019, specializing in Natural Resources, Environmental Policy and Climate Change, sponsored by the US Department of State. She was also a CSF Southern Tropical Andes Fellow from 2010 to 2011, and one of the first generation scholarship recipients in Bolivia to develop her degree thesis from 2006 to 2007. In recent years she has worked supporting multidimensional poverty and gender analysis for watershed management in Bolivia. She holds a Master’s degree in Environmental and Natural Resources Economics from University of Concepción in Chile. Sophia enjoys natural areas, wildlife watching, and visiting different countries to learn about their culture.
